In this project, the student had to make 8 unique signatures to classify the land use in Germantown, Maryland. With this, the program ERDAS IMAGINE 22 was used to complete this project.
The student created this map while exploring the ERDAS Imagine program for the first time. Using the ERDAS Imagine and ARCGIS programs to create a subset of a larger map. This map shows the land coverage of a forested area simplified into pixels to make categorizing easier.
For this assignment, the student had to reverse the bands to create a true color image. With this, the changing of layers helps make the waterways easier to view from an aerial shot. For this feature, the map was turned greyscale. This was done to help distinguish between snow, vegetation, and waterways. For feature 3, the layers were kept in order. This was to show the difference in water moving out rivers, creeks, and streams into a bay. The lighter water shows it has a flow because of the movement of sediment. While the darker water has a slower flow.
